There was jubilation in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State Capital, following the breaking of the cheering news to friends, associates and volunteers of the Giving to the Needies Mission International, a group of non-state actors who are irrevocably committed to humanitarian interventions for those in dire straits.

The wild jubilation attracted the attention of journalists who in the course of nosing for nose, asked the Secretary General of GINMI, Comrade Collins Azu reason for the celebration.

Speaking to journalists during an interactive session with reporters, Azu averred:

"There appears to be light in the dark tunnel. "We are jubilating because our little efforts have successfully paid off. "Members of the Governing Board journeyed to a sleepy community in the Northern part of this country. "We watched, to our chagrin and dismay, a video of a distressed state actor, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Musa Abubakar Adamu. "In the heartrending video, he passionately appealed to the general public to speedily intervene in his fragile health condition. "Burdened, we left Ebonyi, Abia, Nassarrawa, Plateau and other states to attend an expanded inaugural meeting of the Governing Board held in Abuja from 19-24th October 2023. " We were able with the help of our able Director of Projects, Ibrahim Ogaji to locate the ailing officer in Gada Buke, Kuje Area Council of Abuja.

"He told chilling tales of how his patriotic gallantry nearly claimed his life. We donated relief items and made handsome cash donations. All thanks to the media for amplifying that intervention.

"About 6 days later, a generous philanthropist has flown DSP Musa to India for surgery. We said he saw what we did and deemed it necessary to take our efforts a step further. " So that is why we are celebrating because our effort has been complemented on a much higher scale".

The Secretary expressed happiness with the social mobilisation power of the media saying he will continue to partner with the media for greater coverage of the organisation's activities.

" We will continue to partner with you as critical actors in the humanitarian service delivery. We commend you very highly because it is your reportage that led to that intervention. " We I speak to you to you now, DSP Musa is in India for the surgery".
