Digital Literacy and Technology Education for Pupils

GINMI's Digital Literacy and Technology Education Programme introduces pupils to essential digital skills and responsible technology use.

Digital Literacy and Technology Education for Pupils

Designed for: Primary and secondary school pupils, children from underserved communities, schools with limited access to digital education, teachers, and educational communities.

Preparing Children for a Digitally Connected World

Digital knowledge is increasingly important for education, communication, creativity, and participation in modern society. Children who have opportunities to learn basic computer skills can become better prepared to use technology for learning and future development.

Giving to the Needies Mission International (GINMI) promotes digital literacy as part of its commitment to education, inclusion, and community empowerment.

GINMI's documented activities include offering free digital literacy training to pupils at Dorris-Chad International Schools in Ebonyi State on 27 September 2021. Building on this experience, the programme provides a foundation for expanding access to practical technology education where resources and partnerships permit.

The programme may cover basic computer operations, keyboard and mouse use, responsible internet practices, digital safety, educational technology, and introductory digital skills appropriate to learners' ages and experience.

Key objectives:

  • Introduce pupils to computers and basic digital concepts.
  • Improve learners' confidence in using technology for education.
  • Promote safe, responsible, and purposeful use of digital tools.
  • Reduce barriers to digital learning in underserved communities.
  • Encourage interest in technology, innovation, and future digital careers.

Programme activities may include:

  • Basic computer literacy lessons.
  • Practical demonstrations and guided computer exercises.
  • Introduction to educational software and online learning resources.
  • Digital safety and responsible internet-use education.
  • Collaboration with schools, technology professionals, and volunteers.

How to support:

Supporters can contribute computers, accessories, educational materials, internet access where appropriate, training venues, volunteer instruction, and funding for digital literacy sessions.

GINMI seeks to help children gain the foundational digital knowledge needed to participate more confidently in an increasingly technology-driven world.
